Some of you might remember a few months back when I planted some seeds for cut flowers in the hopes of establishing seedlings in the hopes of succession planting. Well, that was a wash. Between little fingers finding the little pots irresistible to dig in and leaving for a week for spring break and not watering them, they quickly found their way into my failure category. But like many of my less waste endeavors, I will not stop there. I will be planting what flower seeds are left straight into the ground these next couple of days and for some visual encouragement, I bought some herbs for a friggin steal at the farmers’ market to plant along with the flowers. There won’t be any succession planting but hopefully there will be flowers! Even if they all come up at the same time and I have to cut them all at once and make one big delivery trip handing them out to anyone who will take them.
So get back up and brush off your pants. We all have failures in this journey but don’t let it stop you. Take a break from it if you need to but don’t forget about it. It might be something you can pick back up in a week (bread making) or a few months (gardening) or a few years (yogurt making) but whatever you do, don’t just throw it to the wayside. Use what you’ve learned to get back on the horse!
