Practice #8: When you forget your reusable grocery bags…

You guys, to be honest, this practice is going to be having you yell “FRICK!” at some point if you keep to it so try not to hate me.

We all know you’re supposed to use reusable grocery bags. This is such a given that I won’t ever post it as an actual practice. I’m going to assume you already know it and are doing it. However, you’d be lying if you told me you have never forgotten to take them to the grocery on one of your shopping trips. So then the inevitable “paper or plastic?” question comes into play. Here’s where it gets fun… The answer? NEITHER! I hate to break it to you but you now have to reap the misfortunes of your forgetfulness. So this is what you do… after you pay for all your groceries, you tell the bagger “no thanks, I don’t want any bags.” And when they look at you incredulously, you say “no, unfortunately, I’m serious. Just trying to save the world one bag at a time.” And then you put all of your groceries back into your cart, schlep it out to your car, put them into your car, one by one, drive home, run into your house and grab your bags you forgot, take them back out to your car, put all your groceries in them and then schlep them back into your house where you will unpack them and immediately run them back to your car for your next grocery trip because you do NOT want to do that again! This is seriously the worst, I’m not even going to try to sugar coat it. Especially on big grocery trips. The good news? Because the experience is so awful, it really sticks with you and I bet it will be at least a couple of months until you forget your bags again.
So here’s to making sure we remember our bags!
