My Self Care Arsenal

Here it is in all its glory. Other than some jewelry and my Waterpik, this is all I have in my bathroom to keep myself together. I’ve never worn makeup so that’s why you don’t see it here. Starting from the left, you can see that I can’t let go of my Arm and Hammer toothpaste. I just can’t do it. But I have switched to a compostable bamboo toothbrush. For my face, I’ve posted before about the Marble and Milkweed facial tonic and nourishing serum. They are both wonderful for my face. For hair, a little less than a year ago I did a hair detox (which I highly recommend) that got rid of all hair product buildup and now only wash my hair once or twice a week with my Lush shampoo bar that I LOVE. (Thank you,Alyssa, for recommending it to me a while ago when going “no-poo” was a disaster.) For deodorant, I use Schmidt’s for sensitive skin. I tried their original formula for a while but got a bad rash so switched to their sensitive skin formula and haven’t had an issue since. After I shave with my safety razor, which I have also talked about before, I use Marble and Milkweed’s body oil on my legs instead of lotion. For washing my body, I’m using a Turtle River Soap Company soap bar right now and love it but am constantly switching it up because there are too many bars of soap to try and too little time! Do yourself a favor and treat yourself to the amazingness of local bar soap, wherever you are, if you haven’t already. Fancy soaps aren’t just for guests anymore. For my face, I’m pretty picky and only use a local company, Herbaria’s biotherapy skin care bar. And lastly, I have a bottle of Chanel Chance that I use for special occasions. (That bottle is four years old so that should tell you how many special occasions are in my life.)

So there it is. My secret to how I stay so fresh and clean while trying to cut down on waste and resources. How about you? Have you ever gathered all of your bathroom essentials onto one surface? Are there any products you can let go of or substitute or consolidate to cut down on plastic? Do you have any tricks up your sleeve?
