2 TV Show Recommendations

I’m almost hesitant to do this as I don’t want to encourage more screen time for us adults who might be getting too much of it anyway BUT if you find yourself wanting to watch a little bit of some tv, I wanted to suggest two shows that have been very educational and inspiring for me and Andrew.

The first is Big Dreams, Small Spaces. It follows Britain’s Number One Gardener, Monty Don (that’s seriously his name), as he mentors folks about how to make their spaces (some just a tiny gravel driveway) into beautiful garden spaces to enjoy. A lot of these folks have never even gardened before but he shows them how a lot of hard work and a passion for nature can transform a space into the garden of their dreams. It has made us believe that some day, our mess of a backyard can become what we’ve always wanted it to be. I can’t recommend it enough. (Netflix)

The other is Alaska the Last Frontier which follows the Kilcher family (The singer Jewel is their daughter) as they homestead in Alaska. It has really inspired us about what we can accomplish here in the city, appreciation for the lives of the animals we eat, how beneficial so many aspects of homesteading are and how to be industrious and use what you have on hand. They are all a little quirky and make for entertaining tv as well. (Hulu or Discovery channel)
