Tip of the day: growlers from local breweries

This tip doesn’t affect me so much as I am more of a wine or g&t sort of girl but for those of you who partake (or ever host parties where people partake) this one’s for you!

Tip: buy your beer from local breweries by the growler. Local breweries are everywhere these days (yay for local!) and most of them let you buy their beer in reusable, glass growlers. We have a couple within a few minutes of us and they charge you up front for the glass growler but then you bring it back when you’re ready for your next brew and they will rinse it and refill it for you at a reduced price. I understand that the typical beer bottle is recyclable and that’s great but this just takes it one step closer toward sustainability. (And bonus points for those of you who home-brew. You are better folks than we!) Also, it tastes better in a growler and your guests will love you for it. We have found that it will maintain a good amount of the CO2 for up to 5 days, if you recap it quickly. Cheers!
